NMN and HRT: What to Know Before Taking Them Together

If you use hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and are considering NMN, the sensible question is not whether the two are “good” or “bad” together. It is whether we have enough human evidence to understand the combination.

At present, there are no robust clinical trials designed specifically to test NMN alongside common HRT regimens. That means it would be misleading to promise that the combination is proven safe, beneficial or harmful.

Why people ask about NMN and HRT

NMN is a precursor used by the body to make NAD+, a coenzyme involved in cellular energy metabolism. HRT is prescribed for menopausal symptoms and replaces hormones such as oestrogen, sometimes with a progestogen. They act through very different biological pathways, but “different pathways” does not automatically mean “no interaction”.

What should you discuss with your clinician?

If you take prescribed HRT, tell your GP, menopause clinician or pharmacist about every supplement you use. This is especially important if you also take medicines for blood pressure, clotting, diabetes, mood or other long-term conditions.

Useful questions include: Is there a reason NMN would be unsuitable with my current medicines? Are there symptoms or blood tests we are already monitoring? Would adding a supplement make it harder to interpret a treatment change?

Start with the evidence, not the promise

Human NMN trials suggest that oral NMN can increase NAD-related metabolites, but trials are generally small and short. They do not establish that NMN treats menopausal symptoms or improves HRT outcomes.

That distinction matters. Food supplements in the UK should not be presented as treatments for medical conditions or menopausal symptoms.

If your clinician is happy for you to use NMN

Choose a product with a clearly stated dose and transparent quality testing. Little Ox NMN Pure provides 500mg of β-NMN per daily serving. If you specifically want NMN paired with trans-resveratrol, see NMN Plus.

For regular users, both are also available through our subscribe-and-save option, so you do not need to remember to reorder each month.
